Many moons ago during my stint studying photography, I came across this interesting tree during my travels around the Tasmanian highlands. At the time, I was shooting only on film, and if my memory serves me correct, I was experimenting with push/pull developing of black and white film and armed only with my old Pentax MZ-50.
My experiment was not all that succesful, but my memories of this persistent little tree never left me. A little tree that had limps that we can easily break with our own hands, leaves that we can pick off, and a trunk that we can easily cut through with basic tools – but persistence and time drove this tree right through a rock and split it in two so that it could come into existence.
I’ve always been impressed by this little tree.
